Zimbabweans have expressed outrage at the Harare City Council plans to turn two golf courses into residential stands.
According to the Harare City Council Environment Management Committee circular seen by The NewsReport, two golf courses located in Sherwood Golf Club and Warren Hills Golf Course will be turned into residential stands.
Both golfing areas are on wetlands.
Zimbabweans on social media reacted angrily to the move which they argue ,undermines environmental laws.
The NewsReport understands that a meeting has been held to uphold the decision.
Harare City Council has been under fire for parceling out land wetlands and profiteering from some city landmarks like golf courses.
Mayor Jacob Mafume said: “The designation of the golf course is the continued criminality that has appeared with the Pomona dumpsite. They want to strip Harare of all its properties.”
