
How to Ruin Christmas actor Busisiwe Lurayi has died.
The news of her sudden death was confirmed through a press statement by her agency, Eye Media Artists. According to the statement, medical personnel declared Lurayi dead at her residence on Sunday.
“The reason for the death is still unknown as we await the results of the autopsy report,” the statement added. “We humbly request that you allow us, as the family, to come to terms with this tragic news. We thank you for the support that has been given so far, and we will provide further information as soon as it has been made available.”
Most recently she starred in two seasons of the Netflix show, How To Ruin Christmas as Tumi Sello. Lurayi was also well known for her role as Phumzile on the SABC 1 sitcom City Ses’la and its spin-off series Ses’Top La.
In 2006, Lurayi won the SAFTA award for the best-supporting actress in a TV comedy. In 2011 and 2021, she again won the same award for best actress in a TV comedy for City Ses’la and How to Ruin Christmas, respectively.
Lurayi is survived by her daughter.
