
Four foreigners suffocate, die in container-bodies dumped in bushy area in Zimbabwe

Trafficking Zimbabwe – Four suspected trafficking victims have died after suffocating in a container they were travelling in near Nyamapanda, that borders Zimbabwe and Mozambique, police said Wednesday.
Four unidentified foreign males were dumped in a bushy area and were believed to be in transit to an unnamed country.
“Investigations conducted by the Zimbabwe Republic Police so far have established that four male adults who were found dead on 22nd November 2022 in a bushy area near the 174 km peg suspected foreigners who were being trafficked to another country,” Police said in a statement.
“The victims are suspected to have suffocated in the container they were travelling in and the bodies were dumped in the area,” further reads the statement.
Zimbabwean authorities have engaged interpol to arrest possible suspects of trafficking offense.
In August , police detained 86 Malawians suspected trying to cross into South Africa illegally as cases of human trafficking continue to rise in Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe is a major transit corridor for African immigrants trying to reach South Africa, the continent’s major economy, to seek refuge.
