The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Extraordinary General Meeting on Saturday voted for the removal of president Felton Kamambo and two other board members, Zimbabwe’s hopes for participation in 2023 Afcon qualifiers.
Gift Banda was voted as the acting president.
The crunch meeting came after FIFA urged Zifa councilors to reinstate Kamambo, who was suspended for misconduct last year.
FIFA still wants Kamambo to be reinstated for Zimbabwe’s suspension from international football.
Zimbabwe, which was drafted into group K alongside South Africa, Morocco and Liberia are unlikely to participate in the qualifiers after Caf set stringent conditions that include the lifting of Fifa suspension two weeks before matchday one of the qualifiers.
